Meet your Advocates:
Â
Hi, I’m Robin Beauchemin. I’m a mom, a COPAA-trained special education advocate, and the co-founder of The Parent Advocate Academy— but I didn’t start here. Years ago, my son was struggling in school. We were told everything was fine, but I knew in my gut it wasn’t. It took years—and a late diagnosis of dyslexia— before he finally got the help he needed. By then, the damage was already done. I was exhausted, frustrated, and full of guilt for not knowing how to fight sooner. So I dove in and learned everything I could about the special education process— how it works, what parents and students are entitled to, and how to navigate the maze of policies, procedures, and school pushback. I trained through COPAA (the Council of Parent Attorneys and Advocates), and since then, I’ve supported families both behind the scenes and at the IEP table—writing letters, preparing strategies, and attending PPT meetings to help ensure their voices are heard. Advocating for your child shouldn’t feel like going to battle. With the right tools and a little guidance, you can take control of the process—and I’ll show you how.

Hi, I’m Candace! I’m a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) with over 10 years of experience working in school-based behavioral support. I’ve spent years helping children overcome behavioral challenges and thrive in school, but it was my journey as a mother that truly opened my eyes to the struggles so many parents face when advocating for their child’s education. After experiencing firsthand the confusion, frustration, and isolation that comes with trying to navigate special education, I made it my mission to help other moms find their voice and become powerful advocates for their children. That’s why I co-founded The Parent Advocate Academy — to give moms the tools, knowledge, and confidence they need to advocate for their child’s needs and secure the services they deserve. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, unheard, or unsure where to turn, know this: You don’t have to do it alone. You’ve got this, and we’ve got your back!Â

Truth, Paperwork & Pushback
Read NowThis blog is where I share my personal experiences navigating the world of special education—first as a parent, then as someone who became an advocate. It’s a space for reflection, frustration, growth, and the moments that shaped my understanding of the system. I write about what I’ve learned and what it feels like to push through red tape for the sake of your child. If you’ve ever found yourself in similar trenches, you might recognize parts of your own story here too.
